A list of amateur choirs, singing groups and choral societies in the greater Glasgow area, broadly open to all with or without audition, which perform publicly (as opposed to private bookings or church services). This list was started many years ago and has finally been updated after the lifting of Covid restrictions, which unfortunately proved to be the end of the line for some choirs. The list is shorter than it was before the pandemic, but it still shows that Glasgow is a great choral city. It's striking that at least one in three of the choirs on this list were started in the 21st century. The growth is in the area of community choirs, while the long-established choral societies continue to struggle and peter out.
